Bor Wildlife
Sanctuary comprising of61.10sq.km. came into actuality vide Government of
Maharashtra Notification No. WLP-1670/ 43126 (a)-4, dt.27/11/1970. Bor Wildlife
Sanctuary is positioned along the Southern boundary of Nagpur quarter and
Northern boundary of Wardha quarter of Maharashtra, and extends over an
area61.10sq.km. banning the force. It represents the flowery and faunal wealth
of Satpuda-Maikal Landscape. It was a game reserve which was latterly declared
as Wildlife Sanctuary in 1970 to conserve its rich biodiversity and the
catchment value of Bor River whose sub receptacle is Wardha River and
receptacle is Godavari River.
Bor Wildlife Sanctuary derives its name from Bor River which meanders along the central portion of the sanctuary like serpants and divides the sanctuary in two corridor.
Conservation History
Bor Wildlife Sanctuary is positioned in bottom hills of Satpuda and acts as a corridor between Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve and Pench Tiger Reserve. This may be the reason for high chance of wild herbivores and beasties. The archaeological remains which are known as Nasargarh and Gidamgarh reveals the actuality of seat of power in ancient times in the morning of 1st Century. These tracts are endowed with nature life supporting processes and ingredients similar as hills, denes, describes uproariousness and diversity of natural wealth including different Wildlife of Central India. Faunal Diversity
The Bor Jungle Safari is home to numerous species including the aboriginal and exposed species of the area similar as Barracuda, Cougars, Small Indian Civet Cat Wild boar, Sloth bear, Blue bull, Wild tykes, Pangolin, etc. The avi-faunal diversity of the sanctuary is its most seductive and remarkable point. There are further than 160 species of catcalls belonging to 46 families of 16 different orders, which have been plant in the sanctuary. These including over 10 species of migrant catcalls and over 9 species of exposed catcalls. The sanctuary is an residence of over 26 species of reptiles belonging 11 families, out of which 6 species are of exposed status, videlicet, Indian Cobra, Indian Rock python, Rat snake, Russel’s serpent, Checkerd ship back and common Examiner Lizard.

A major portion of the exempt area is conterminous with good
timber of Wardha Forest Division and Nagpur Forest Division.

Zone-5.21 Sq. Km.
The area for nature
and wildlife tourism extends over5.21sq.km.forming8.52 of total area. The main
ideal is to educate the callers about the significance of nature and wildlife
conservation and to induce mindfulness.
Area of Buffer Zone
It constitute the timber area around Bor Wildlife Sanctuary
that has been proposed as defensive hedge for the Core Area.
